UNC System President, Board of Governors Visit UNC Greensboro Campus

On Tuesday, Feb. 27, UNC Greensboro hosted UNC System President Margaret Spellings and the UNC Board of Governors, the policy-making body charged with the governance of the 17-campus UNC System.
Spellings and board members observed nursing simulations at the Union Square Campus in downtown Greensboro, participated in a tour of the new Millennial Campus districts along Tate Street (Visual and Performing Arts) and Gate City Boulevard (Health and Wellness), and discussed student success initiatives with an array of student leaders.
Spellings and Chancellor Franklin D. Gilliam, Jr. also signed the university’s new performance agreement, which outlines how UNCG will contribute to the new UNC Strategic Plan over the next five years.
Looking ahead, the UNC System is focused on improving access, student success, affordability and efficiency, economic impact and community engagement, and institutional excellence and diversity. One key area of focus for UNCG is increasing its number of graduates from rural counties, as well as those who come from low-income backgrounds.
The visit ended with a lunch reception and a performance by student musicians from the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
